Sten Gustafsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt-Arne Browald having to interfere. Samuel Linberg lost his temper 11 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 10 minutes into the game, one of Mölndal:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 13 minutes, Galatasaray's Pelle Hellkvist got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Bengt-Arne Browald. In the 23rd minute Michael Söderström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sten Backlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sten Gustafsson succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 4-0 in the 27th playminute. Bengt-Arne Browald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Igelström in the 33rd minute of the match. Bengt-Arne Browald made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sten Gustafsson in the 36th minute. Sten Gustafsson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Bengt-Arne Browald when he managed to save the team from getting behind.

56 minutes into the game, Evert Vassenius was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mölndal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Galatasaray the free kick. In the 56th minute, Evert Vassenius hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Michael Söderström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Mölndal's zone, Tommy Igelström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bengt-Arne Browald came out of the goal and Tommy Igelström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bengt-Arne Browald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Igelström in the 80th minute of the match. A collision led to Galatasaray getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Pelle Hellkvist hit a great ball. If Dan Jelm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tommy Igelström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Bengt-Arne Browald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There was no doubt that Galatasaray were the better team. Galatasaray's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
