Ragnar Söderström struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Robert Byström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hammarby Sjöstad IF. In the 4th match minute, Orion BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Beckström to maneuver through the defense. Robert Byström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefan Broman in the 9th minute of play. Stefan Broman scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Robert Byström, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Robert Byström came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Stefan Broman. But to his dismay, Stefan Broman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 24 minutes into the match, Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Stefan Broman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robert Byström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jan-Olof Asklöv could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Gordon Banks made a huge save. In the 27th minute, Stefan Broman made a precise shot to the right of Robert Byström. Orion BK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Robert Byström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Broman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Orion BK booed when Hammarby Sjöstad IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bengt Bengtsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonathan Andersson during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 35 played minutes Orion BK got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Andersson. After having played for 36 minutes, Stefan Broman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hammarby Sjöstad IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stefan Broman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Orion BK's Bengt Mager suffered a concussion after 37 minutes and had to leave the field. When Bengt Bengtsson fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hammarby Sjöstad IF's protests and gave Bengt Bengtsson a yellow card for diving instead. The Orion BK players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Hammarby Sjöstad IF were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jonathan Andersson made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stefan Broman got free with Robert Byström in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Bernt Bergqvist kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Robert Byström. That made the score 0-4 in the 57 minute of play. In the 66th minute, Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Bernt Bergqvist dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. Robert Byström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernt Bergqvist in the 69th minute of play. Orion BK's defense didn't have a chance, in the 72nd minute, when Bernt Bergqvist scored to the left of an out of position Robert Byström, making the score, 0-6. Isak Lidman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albert Lindström during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Albert Lindström hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Robert Byström was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bernt Bergqvist showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-7 in the 89 minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Orion BK's goalkeeper Robert Byström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stefan Broman. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Hammarby Sjöstad IF walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
