Kosta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ian Qvarnström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Bruno Guadagnoli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lenhovda's Ib Schnipper proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Lenhovda from getting a goal against them. Ib Schnipper didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anders Sigman went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ian Qvarnström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
