The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If George Berg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christer Boklund recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sven-Arne Brodin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Berg, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Malmö Fotbollförening's Mats Smefeldt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Michael Ekström in the 10th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Malmö Fotbollförening's George Berg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sven-Arne Brodin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Borussia Herrhagen's Sven-Arne Brodin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Berg in the 22nd minute of play. Sven-Arne Brodin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Berg, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Borussia Herrhagen's Sven-Arne Brodin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Berg in the 31st minute of play. John Bergqvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sven-Arne Brodin having to interfere. In the 39th minute Christer Boklund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mats Smefeldt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Borussia Herrhagen's Kenneth Grönberg got a free kick in the 45th minute. In the 47th match minute, Borussia Herrhagen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claes Nyqvist to maneuver through the defense.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for George Berg to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Malmö Fotbollförening's zone, Lucas Klint stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mats Smefeldt came out of the goal and Lucas Klint tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mats Smefeldt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Åke Granberg in the 56th minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, Malmö Fotbollförening's goal looked a bit too open when Lucas Klint came free, but Mats Smefeldt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 58 played minutes Malmö Fotbollförening got a freekick which was hit by Arne Vallmark. Mats Smefeldt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christer Boklund in the 64th minute of the match. Malmö Fotbollförening's George Berg got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. George Berg kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Mats Smefeldt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Åke Granberg in the 70th minute of play. After 71 played minutes Borussia Herrhagen got a freekick which was hit by Jens-Ove Haglund. George Berg's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sven-Arne Brodin firmly grabbed it by the left post. With a little luck, Borussia Herrhagen's Sven-Arne Brodin got control of the ball when George Berg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Karl-Michael Ekström hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute Birger Benet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Arne Brodin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. George Berg scored 0-1 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sven-Arne Brodin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when George Berg got free with Sven-Arne Brodin in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Åke Granberg charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Åke Granberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Åke Granberg hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Klint in the 96th minute of play forced Malmö Fotbollförening's goalkeeper Mats Smefeldt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Malmö Fotbollförening players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Borussia Herrhagen from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
