The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to IF Älgarna getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. The IF Älgarna fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. IF Älgarna's Jonny Månsson got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Jonny Månsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jan-Olof Sjödin was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Jönåker FC's Jan-Olof Sjödin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronny Hagström in the 21st minute of play. Christian Mellbad hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonny Månsson in the 27th minute of play forced Jönåker FC's goalkeeper Jan-Olof Sjödin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 28 minutes, Harald Biörling mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the IF Älgarna and the Jönåker FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stig Lönn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Albert Freitag tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Jönåker FC's goal looked a bit too open when John Olofsson came free, but Jan-Olof Sjödin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute, Jönåker FC's Evarado Sauca dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After having played for 37 minutes, Jonny Månsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. IF Älgarna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonny Månsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38th match minute, IF Älgarna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonny Månsson to maneuver through the defense. Einar Sjögren hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute of the match Dag Kock sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jan-Olof Sjödin skillfully saved the ball. 44 minutes into the game, IF Älgarna's Jonny Månsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jan-Olof Sjödin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. IF Älgarna's Jonny Månsson got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

If Per-Olof Löfdahl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Per-Olof Löfdahl took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Albert Freitag. Albert Freitag dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. John Olofsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Jan-Olof Sjödin made a huge save. A nice corner shot did that John Olofsson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jan-Olof Sjödin quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When IF Älgarna's Ronny Hagström in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Jönåker FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 64th minute Evarado Sauca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Freitag saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to IF Älgarna getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Dag Kock hit a great ball. Per-Olof Löfdahl charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Per-Olof Löfdahl the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Per-Olof Löfdahl kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. If Jonny Månsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Per-Olof Löfdahl's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Albert Freitag read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Jonny Månsson scored 2-3 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jan-Olof Sjödin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 83 minutes into the match, Jönåker FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jonny Månsson came free, but Jan-Olof Sjödin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute Jonny Månsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Olof Sjödin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jonny Månsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Jönåker FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching IF Älgarna's performance. The match ended with a win for IF Älgarna.
