Frank Hellström started the match with the kick off. Billy Palmquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Hellström in the 7th minute of the match. Dan Gabrielsson charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dan Gabrielsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dan Gabrielsson kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfred Smed during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th minute, Alfred Smed hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute Per Myhr shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Billy Palmquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Billy Palmquist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Hellström, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Erik Browald had great luck who in the 22ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Kasper Juhlin from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Republic of Jämtland's Kasper Juhlin got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dan Gabrielsson was shown his second yellow card after 27 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Republic of Jämtland's Dan Gabrielsson got a free kick in the 27th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Republic of Jämtland's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Hellström came free, but Billy Palmquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Republic of Jämtland's Arne Kilstedt got a free kick in the 30th minute. Billy Palmquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stig Ekeroth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ivar Tinglöv had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Republic of Jämtland's Billy Palmquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Hellström in the 36th minute of play. Kasper Juhlin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stig Ekeroth charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stig Ekeroth the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 45th match minute, Finspång FF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stig Ekeroth to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Finspång FF were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kasper Juhlin to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Torbjörn Vestlund in the 55th minute of play forced Republic of Jämtland's goalkeeper Billy Palmquist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Republic of Jämtland's Billy Palmquist got control of the ball when Frank Hellström tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Finspång FF getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Stig Ekeroth hit a great ball. Sven-Ove Hagström made in the 72nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Jörn Sjöö. In the 79th match minute, Republic of Jämtland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jörn Sjöö to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 83 minutes, Per Myhr managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Finspång FF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Per Myhr was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erik Browald showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kasper Juhlin, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Kasper Juhlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Browald having to interfere. Per Myhr's late challenge caught a Republic of Jämtland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Per Myhr helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Finspång FF's Per Myhr got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 88th minute of the match Evert Sjöström sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Erik Browald skillfully saved the ball.
