Sivert Söder scored 0-2 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sten Muren, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 17th minute, Ola Larsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hammarby Hornets BK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Manchester City's Sten Muren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ola Larsson in the 21st minute of play. The Hammarby Hornets BK fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Hammarby Hornets BK's Ola Larsson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Sten Muren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ola Larsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Manchester City defense, Ola Larsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sten Muren. The Manchester City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sten Muren should have stopped the shot. 34 minutes into the game, Sivert Söder cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Sten Muren was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Hammarby Hornets BK's zone, Dick Holmgren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Detlev Leisibach came out of the goal and Dick Holmgren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 42 minutes into the match, Ola Larsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sten Muren. Manchester City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ola Larsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-7. After having played for 45 minutes, Sivert Söder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hammarby Hornets BK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sivert Söder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester City's zone, Sivert Söder stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sten Muren came out of the goal and Sivert Söder tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-7 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 52nd minute, Sten Stolpe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 55 minutes into the game, Esbjörn Isaksson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manchester City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hammarby Hornets BK the free kick. Esbjörn Isaksson kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After having played for 58 minutes, Sivert Söder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hammarby Hornets BK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sivert Söder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sten Muren came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Hammarby Hornets BK's Ola Larsson. But to his dismay, Ola Larsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. Manchester City made a substitution. Ture Backman replaced Sten Stolpe. Manchester City's Sebastian Tingberg was substituted for Egil Bure. With a little luck, Manchester City's Sten Muren got control of the ball when Ola Larsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Manchester City's Sten Muren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Manchester City from getting a goal against them. Hammarby Hornets BK's Ola Larsson got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sivert Söder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sten Muren having to interfere. Ola Larsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Sten Muren made a huge save. Sivert Söder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Sten Muren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 84 minutes into the match, Ola Larsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sten Muren. The Manchester City fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Hammarby Hornets BK were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
