Lars Wallgren started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute, Håkan Lidström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jubilo Iwata's Arne Kilberg quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hugo Waller, made in the 11th minute of the game. If Lars Wallgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, Skutans FK's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Wallgren came free, but Erling Ersman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erling Ersman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Åke Apelkvist in the 21st minute of play. Kenny Alström's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erling Ersman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Jubilo Iwata's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Lars Wallgren in the 25th minute. 27 minutes into the game, David Vigren was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jubilo Iwata's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Skutans FK the free kick. David Vigren kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Gustaf Henriksson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Hake, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 30th minute Lars Wallgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erling Ersman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kenny Alström got free with Erling Ersman in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Erik Hallgren hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. The supporters of Jubilo Iwata booed when Skutans FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stefan Rang didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustaf Henriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evert Billström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Skutans FK's goalkeeper Erling Ersman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kenny Alström. The supporters of Jubilo Iwata booed when Skutans FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Gullesson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustaf Henriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Hake, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Skutans FK were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erik Hallgren made a kick off. After 52 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Jubilo Iwata! The goalkeeper, Gustaf Henriksson, was totally fooled by Skutans FK's Stefan Rang, who 53 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Kenny Alström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Erling Ersman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erik Hallgren who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 67thth minute tested the skills of Gustaf Henriksson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Evert Billström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 80th minute Karl-Åke Apelkvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erling Ersman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustaf Henriksson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Hallgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. After a rather tough play, Jubilo Iwata's Emil Delin got a free kick in the 85th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Skutans FK walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
