Seating: 1786, VIP seats: 154) Avesta's Sabin Albu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute Sabin Albu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 2nd minute, Sabin Albu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Avesta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When Gelu Băcila came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Avesta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gelu Băcila couldn't finish the play. Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sabin Albu's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Djurgården United's goal looked a bit too open when Gelu Băcila came free, but Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sabin Albu, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The supporters of Avesta booed when Djurgården United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernst Burman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gelu Băcila struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avesta. In the 25th minute, Sonny Njurenius reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jens-Ola Eklund. The goal made the score 1-2. Avesta's Jens-Ola Eklund proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Avesta from getting a goal against them. After 30 played minutes Avesta got a freekick which was hit by Radomil Kolacki. 33 minutes into the match, Djurgården United's goal looked a bit too open when Sabin Albu came free, but Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Avesta's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Olof Orre in the 35th minute. The corner led to Avesta's Sabin Albu getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 40th minute Gelu Băcila shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Avesta's Jens-Ola Eklund got control of the ball when Bertil Lindholm tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 45th minute of the match Djurgården United got a corner. Avesta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Samuel Lind ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Samuel Lind got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jens-Ola Eklund quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Gelu Băcila blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt having to make a save.
Ernst Burman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens-Ola Eklund having to interfere. Sonny Njurenius's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jens-Ola Eklund read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Ernst Burman made a great header on Djurgården United's corner, it was just that Avesta's Jens-Ola Eklund managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 59th minute of the match Djurgården United got a corner. Avesta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Samuel Lind ran over to the corner to take the kick. Djurgården United's Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sabin Albu in the 64th minute of play. Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sabin Albu, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Ernst Burman took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jens-Ola Eklund. Jens-Ola Eklund dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. With a little luck, Djurgården United's Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt got control of the ball when Gelu Băcila tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jens-Ola Eklund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sonny Njurenius in the 80th minute of the match. Gelu Băcilas short, quick shot in the 81stth minute got Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Sverker Mossberg's late challenge caught a Avesta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sverker Mossberg helped the player get up and apologised. After 82 played minutes Djurgården United got a freekick which was hit by Sverker Mossberg. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With his leg Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when Avesta's Gelu Băcila fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 88 minutes into the match, Avesta's goal looked a bit too open when Bertil Lindholm came free, but Jens-Ola Eklund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jens-Ola Eklund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertil Lindholm in the 94th minute of play. The Djurgården United supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Avesta's performance. The match ended with a win for Avesta.
