To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 15 minutes into the match, Djurgården United's Ernst Burman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alf Björklund narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Gröna Stjärnan defense, Sonny Njurenius kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alf Björklund. The Gröna Stjärnan fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alf Björklund should have stopped the shot. In the 21st minute, Martin Söderström fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt, passed just outside the right post. Ernst Burman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Alf Björklund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sonny Njurenius scored 0-3 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alf Björklund, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alf Björklund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bertil Lindholm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jens-Ola Svanström hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Gilberto Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alf Björklund having to interfere. The tension between the Gröna Stjärnan and the Djurgården United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 61st minute of the game. One of Gröna Stjärnan:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Djurgården United:s goal. 65 minutes in the game, Sonny Njurenius fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Alf Björklund having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Gröna Stjärnan's Börje Brovall got a free kick in the 67th minute. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 71st minute, but Alf Björklund got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Gröna Stjärnan hanging dry this time. Gilberto Neto was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 73 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 72nd minute of the game. One of Djurgården United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gröna Stjärnan:s goal. When the match was over Djurgården United could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gröna Stjärnan throughout the match.
