The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the game, Sabin Albu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ingemar Klint was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Avesta getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Sabin Albu hit a great ball. The supporters of Avesta booed when FC Hamodi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ted Nordin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 20 played minutes Avesta got a freekick which was hit by Radomil Kolacki. Ingemar Klint took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radomil Kolacki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 39 minutes into the match, FC Hamodi's goal looked a bit too open when Gelu Băcila came free, but Ingemar Klint reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 41 minutes into the game, Erling Brandt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Hamodi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Avesta the free kick. In the 42nd minute, Erling Brandt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Jens-Ola Eklund stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgar Ambjörnsson's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Avesta's Jens-Ola Eklund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erling Brandt in the 59th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, FC Hamodi's goalkeeper Ingemar Klint had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gelu Băcila. FC Hamodi's Folke Koch was substituted for Jens-Ola Bergström. Avesta's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Radomil Kolacki in the 62nd minute. When Eric Bergstedt in the 63rd matchminute tried to hit away a contribution it went so bad that the ball went into own goal via right pole. A dismal self made goal which led to 1-2. Ingemar Klint made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gelu Băcila in the 71st minute. Sven Kinell kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. FC Hamodi's Ingemar Klint proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save FC Hamodi from getting a goal against them. Ingemar Klint took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sabin Albu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Avesta's Ingemar Klint threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sabin Albu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Although FC Hamodi had been in control for most of the match, Avesta still came away with the win.
