The audience thought a goal was coming when Gösta Eskilsson got free with Karl-Åke Sjögren in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 13th match minute, Karlskrona IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brian Blomquist to maneuver through the defense. When Jakob Jonasson fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Karlskrona IK's Karl-Åke Sjögren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Karlskrona IK from getting a goal against them. Tobias Walroth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonny Björk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Karlskrona IK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jakob Jonasson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The Västerhaninge players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
