The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 8 minutes into the match, Holger Lindqvist had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Richard Lange. Mago de Oz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Holger Lindqvist was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Richard Lange showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allan Hedström, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Richard Lange took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Holger Lindqvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Holger Lindqvist sped through Mago de Oz's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Richard Lange. Richard Lange came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Hammarby IF's Holger Lindqvist. But to his dismay, Holger Lindqvist quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mago de Oz's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Inge Valler was slow to take the kick. During this time Hammarby IF's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Hammarby IF's Inge Valler to fire away a dangerous shot which Richard Lange despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Bibiano Velastegui notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Hammarby IF's Dan Sikström. Dan Sikström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 47thth minute of the game Jan Billock who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mago de Oz's Richard Lange was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Holger Lindqvist stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Richard Lange made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Hedström in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Mago de Oz's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Hedström came free, but Richard Lange reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olof Öberg kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 63rd match minute, Mago de Oz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kjell Igelström to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Mago de Oz's zone, Inge Valler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Lange came out of the goal and Inge Valler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Richard Lange made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Allan Hedström sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Holger Lindqvist put it in 1-6 from a short distance just to the right of Richard Lange. Holger Lindqvist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Mago de Oz booed when Hammarby IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sylwester Cwenar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 86 minutes of play, Hammarby IF's Holger Lindqvist made it 1-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Richard Lange was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Mago de Oz's Richard Lange got control of the ball when Holger Lindqvist tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Inge Valler got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Elias Ennegren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Dan Sikström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
