Folke Malmström came out and tried to block the shot, but Xesus Coya slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 33rd minute. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Svenska Lejon BK's goalkeeper Folke Malmström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Arsenal FC's zone, Mark Stenström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lucrețiu Ignătoiu came out of the goal and Mark Stenström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nemesio Isusko struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Lucrețiu Ignătoiu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Svenska Lejon BK. Xesus Coya could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Folke Malmström made a huge save. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nemesio Isusko to make the kick off.
