In the 11th minute Daidalos Rigatos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Sammut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Köln's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gylippus Galitsis in the 12th minute. Lawrence Sammut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gylippus Galitsis, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bengt-Åke Vallmark during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Tekie-Taka booed when FC Köln was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bengt-Åke Vallmark didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute Gylippus Galitsis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Sammut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Tekie-Taka defense, Gylippus Galitsis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lawrence Sammut. The Tekie-Taka fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lawrence Sammut should have stopped the shot. Gylippus Galitsis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lawrence Sammut read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The Tekie-Taka players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Köln were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jakob Alberg to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Daidalos Rigatos managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Köln's supporters rose to their feet, but Daidalos Rigatos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lawrence Sammut breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gylippus Galitsis might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lawrence Sammut. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gylippus Galitsis ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice moves Gylippus Galitsis could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Lawrence Sammut however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to Tekie-Taka getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Walter Dahlkvist hit a great ball. Lawrence Sammut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daidalos Rigatos, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After 65 minutes Tekie-Taka's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gylippus Galitsis who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Herbert Petersson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lawrence Sammut quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 66 minutes in the game, Gylippus Galitsis fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Lawrence Sammut having to interfere. After 68 minutes, Jens-Erik Löfgren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tekie-Taka and the FC Köln players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jens-Erik Löfgren kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jakob Alberg in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edvin Olsson saved FC Köln from getting behind. Gylippus Galitsis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Tekie-Taka's zone, Gylippus Galitsis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lawrence Sammut came out of the goal and Gylippus Galitsis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 77 minutes into the game, Gylippus Galitsis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Köln's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tekie-Taka the free kick. In the 77th minute, Gylippus Galitsis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 81st minute Daidalos Rigatos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Sammut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gylippus Galitsis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Lawrence Sammut made a huge save. After having played for 83 minutes, Tom Riddle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Köln's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tom Riddle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Gylippus Galitsis managed to get in a good position for a shot.
