Jonathan Widberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Dick Berg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jerry Unesson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Leonardo Magnusson fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vina Del Mar's protests and gave Leonardo Magnusson a yellow card for diving instead. 29 minutes into the match, Gbg United's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Trigo came free, but Jonathan Widberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jerry Unesson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Birkan Şahabeddin in the 30th minute of play. Fredric Spets kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. 0-2 became the score in the 33rd minute when Roch Bartoszek elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 36 played minutes Gbg United got a freekick which was hit by Åke Norberg. 41 minutes into the match, Vina Del Mar's goal looked a bit too open when Sixten Alebeck came free, but Jerry Unesson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Vina Del Mar booed when Gbg United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birkan Şahabeddin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Birkan Şahabeddin to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Vina Del Mar defense, Birkan Şahabeddin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jerry Unesson. The Vina Del Mar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jerry Unesson should have stopped the shot. Jerry Unesson made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Birkan Şahabeddin sent off a good shot on target. Roch Bartoszek's late challenge caught a Vina Del Mar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roch Bartoszek helped the player get up and apologised. Harry Apelqvist scored 1-4 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Widberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Roch Bartoszek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Birkan Şahabeddin took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jerry Unesson. Jerry Unesson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. The Gbg United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gbg United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
