With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wasyl Kapelski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wasyl Kapelski came out of the goal and Radowit Niewiadomski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, Maciej Patora had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Damian Sakowicz. GKS Jastrzębie's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maciej Patora was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Radowit Niewiadomski came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the GKS Jastrzębie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Radowit Niewiadomski couldn't finish the play. Piast Gliwice's Wasyl Kapelski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radowit Niewiadomski in the 24th minute of play. After 33 played minutes GKS Jastrzębie got a freekick which was hit by Zbigniew Carrington. Hamza Güneş received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Wasyl Kapelski came out and tried to block the shot, but Hamza Güneş slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 36th minute. The audience was convinced that Radowit Niewiadomski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wasyl Kapelski was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hamza Güneş in the 48th minute of play forced Piast Gliwice's goalkeeper Wasyl Kapelski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Radowit Niewiadomski to make the kick off. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. GKS Jastrzębie had played much better football throughout.
