In the 13th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Tempel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Netherlands's defense didn't have a chance, in the 17th minute, when Daniel Hagedorn scored to the left of an out of position Arnout Reekers, making the score, 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Rapid Wien's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Alf Tempel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Rapid Wien's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Alf Tempel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alf Tempel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After 28 played minutes Rapid Wien got a freekick which was hit by Uwe Kitzbichler. 41 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alf Tempel. Rapid Wien's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wim Wilmes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Hagedorn in the 47th minute of play.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 52nd minute of play. With a little luck, Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by Netherlands's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mirco Kähler was slow to take the kick. During this time Rapid Wien's players had a chance to rest. Alf Tempel made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Alf Tempel in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 65 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alf Tempel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice moves Gustaaf Groeneveldt could shoot a difficult shot in the 69th minute, which Alf Tempel however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 71st minute of play forced Rapid Wien's goalkeeper Alf Tempel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alf Tempel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 73rd minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alf Tempel, 2-3. Gust Ennemans made in the 80th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Gustaaf Groeneveldt immediately put the ball in play. 81 minutes into the match, Rapid Wien's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Alf Tempel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. David Eikelkamp hit a great ball. Daniel Hagedorn scored 3-3 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnout Reekers, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Netherlands were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
