The Karpen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zdzislaw Wozniak should have stopped the shot. With an all-out effort, Karpen's Janusz Petka threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jacek Piekarczyk, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Jacek Piekarczyk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the game, Mateusz Krzynowek was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Karpen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Team Leader Bydgoszcz the free kick. After 24 played minutes Karpen got a freekick which was hit by Mateusz Krzynowek. Team Leader Bydgoszcz's Igor Chowaniec got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Jacek Piekarczyk got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edward Zukowski kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jacek Piekarczyk stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Janusz Petka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacek Piekarczyk, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Karpen's zone, Fabian Zdrojowy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wincent Sniegowski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Karpen's goalkeeper Zdzislaw Wozniak, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Karpen's Damazy Czerner got a free kick in the 61st minute. Igor Chowaniec fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zdzislaw Wozniak having to interfere. Igor Chowaniec received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Zdzislaw Wozniak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Zdzislaw Wozniak managed to avoid a goal in the 72ndth minute, when Team Leader Bydgoszcz's Igor Chowaniec fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Zygmunt Trynda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maciej Budrewicz's late challenge caught a Karpen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Maciej Budrewicz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Team Leader Bydgoszcz getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Maciej Budrewicz hit a great ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Team Leader Bydgoszcz had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
