The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Roch Milko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wojciech Moczkiewicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eugeniusz Lampe got free with Iwan Gecionis in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 8 played minutes PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa got a freekick which was hit by Ryszard Haszczak. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's goalkeeper Iwan Gecionis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Wojciech Moczkiewicz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ryszard Haszczak struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Roch Milko didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa. Gaciowe Gnomy's Roch Milko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wojciech Moczkiewicz in the 18th minute of play. Waclaw Trela's late challenge caught a PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Waclaw Trela helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th match minute, Gaciowe Gnomy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waclaw Trela to maneuver through the defense. Eugeniusz Lampe who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Iwan Gecionis when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugeniusz Lampe in the 23rd minute of play forced PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's goalkeeper Iwan Gecionis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 26 minutes of play, PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's Edward Ciechocki made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roch Milko was left in no man's land by his defense there! A hard shot 29 in the game by Waclaw Trela from a close distance when the talented Iwan Gecionis managed to make a qualified save. PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's players were relieved. Eugeniusz Lampe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 37 played minutes Gaciowe Gnomy got a freekick which was hit by Zbyszko Gargasz. 42 minutes into the match, PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's goal looked a bit too open when Zbyszko Gargasz came free, but Iwan Gecionis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 44 minutes into the game, Zbyszko Gargasz recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Iwan Gecionis. Zbyszko Gargasz showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wojciech Moczkiewicz to make the kick off. PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Remigiusz Filanowski in the 83rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Remigiusz Filanowski got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Roch Milko quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wojciech Moczkiewicz in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roch Milko saved Gaciowe Gnomy from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Ciechocki got free with Roch Milko in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Iwan Gecionis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugeniusz Lampe in the 93rd minute of play. A collision led to PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Radomil Skaradowski hit a great ball. PoLoNiA WaRsZaWa's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
