The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Gizy:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC GDAŃSK:s goal. Edmund Drebit sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Hieronim Wicherek came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the FC GDAŃSK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hieronim Wicherek couldn't finish the play. In the 20th match minute, Gizy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stasio Walczak to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andrzej Soroka in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arkadiusz Czerner saved Gizy from getting behind. Lech Kajfasz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Arkadiusz Czerner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Andrzej Soroka came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the FC GDAŃSK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andrzej Soroka couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Edmund Drebit managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC GDAŃSK's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmund Drebit was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arkadiusz Czerner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edmund Drebit blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arkadiusz Czerner having to make a save. A collision led to Gizy getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Roch Brzonkala hit a great ball. If Andrzej Soroka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Andrzej Soroka made the kick off in the second half. Lech Kajfasz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arkadiusz Czerner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. A collision led to FC GDAŃSK getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Andrzej Soroka hit a great ball. The supporters of FC GDAŃSK booed when Gizy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stasio Walczak didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Wit Ludzia from long distance, 71 minutes into the match, got Arkadiusz Czerner's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After some careless play in the FC GDAŃSK defense, Roland Bugno kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sylwester Dembkowski. The FC GDAŃSK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sylwester Dembkowski should have stopped the shot. Gizy's Roland Bugno got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Andrzej Soroka managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC GDAŃSK's supporters rose to their feet, but Andrzej Soroka was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arkadiusz Czerner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC GDAŃSK played a much better game than Gizy and deserved their victory. The Gizy players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
