Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Kazimierz Malik started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Witomir Kempka received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Roland Lerych tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 6th minute Aleksander Ikalewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iwo Faron saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Gwardia Wałbrzych getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Radomil Spychalski hit a great ball. Aleksander Ikalewicz scored 0-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iwo Faron, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kazimierz Malik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iwo Faron having to interfere. Gwardia Wałbrzych's Iwo Faron played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kazimierz Malik in the 16th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aleksander Ikalewicz in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iwo Faron prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Aleksander Ikalewicz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Gwardia Wałbrzych's goal looked a bit too open when Aleksander Ikalewicz came free, but Iwo Faron reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Gwardia Wałbrzych's zone, Aleksander Ikalewicz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iwo Faron came out of the goal and Aleksander Ikalewicz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Iskra Opole's Aleksander Ikalewicz got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Iwo Faron showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kazimierz Malik, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Witomir Kempka struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Roland Lerych didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gwardia Wałbrzych. Radomil Spychalski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Iskra Opole were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Radomil Spychalski to make the kick off. Aleksander Ikalewicz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iwo Faron read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After 54 minutes, Radomil Spychalski mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gwardia Wałbrzych and the Iskra Opole players grew even worse after the yellow card. Iwo Faron made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Aleksander Ikalewicz sent off a good shot on target. 69 minutes into the game, Gwardia Wałbrzych's Witomir Kempka nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roland Lerych made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 74th minute, Aleksander Ikalewicz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Kazimierz Malik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Iskra Opole's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
