The audience was convinced that Tolek Ludwiczak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andrzej Ziomkowski was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. 12 minutes into the match, Lech Poznań's goal looked a bit too open when Antoni Anszczak came free, but Andrzej Ziomkowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Wincentynów's zone, Kazimierz Trochowski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sylwester Fudalej came out of the goal and Kazimierz Trochowski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sylwester Fudalej made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kazimierz Trochowski in the 20th minute. Tolek Ludwiczak's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andrzej Ziomkowski read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tolek Ludwiczak in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andrzej Ziomkowski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kazimierz Trochowski kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 27th minute Jurand Grabowicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sylwester Fudalej saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sylwester Fudalej showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jurand Grabowicz in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Kazimierz Trochowski got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jurand Grabowicz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sylwester Fudalej having to interfere. Wincentynów's Sylwester Fudalej played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jurand Grabowicz in the 38th minute of play. Andrzej Ziomkowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antoni Anszczak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Wincentynów's goalkeeper Sylwester Fudalej, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antoni Anszczak to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Lech Poznań's Arkadiusz Wojtkiewicz got a free kick in the 51st minute. If Antoni Anszczak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kazimierz Trochowski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sylwester Fudalej having to interfere. 63 minutes into the game, Jurand Grabowicz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Sylwester Fudalej was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 76 minutes into the match, Wincentynów's Antoni Anszczak sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andrzej Ziomkowski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sylwester Fudalej made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jurand Grabowicz in the 78th minute of play. Tolek Ludwiczak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Miroslaw Jeziorkowski came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Wincentynów fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miroslaw Jeziorkowski couldn't finish the play. Andrzej Ziomkowski made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Tolek Ludwiczak sent off a good shot on target. Sylwester Fudalej showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jurand Grabowicz, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After 94 minutes, Hugon Giejda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wincentynów and the Lech Poznań players grew even worse after the yellow card.
