In the 36th minute Stefan Czajka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Radomil Niewiadomski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 played minutes Real Madryt got a freekick which was hit by Stefan Czajka. Olgierd Gniewek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ludomir Marut's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Ryszard Dulka charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Janusz Roman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Radomil Niewiadomski having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Janusz Roman in the 75th minute of play forced Chelsea Football Club's goalkeeper Radomil Niewiadomski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ludomir Marut in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olgierd Gniewek saved Real Madryt from getting behind. 81 minutes into the match, Real Madryt's Stefan Czajka sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Radomil Niewiadomski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Norbert Fabiszak fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chelsea Football Club's protests and gave Norbert Fabiszak a yellow card for diving instead.
