Bydgoszcz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andrzej Dziurowicz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Robert Beninda came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Reiland SSA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Beninda couldn't finish the play. In the 46th minute Robert Beninda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wojciech Derlanga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Tanek Betonowy got free with Wojciech Derlanga in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 93rd minute, Lech Pryla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Konstanty Gacki got his second yellow card in the match during the 94th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Bydgoszcz booed when Reiland SSA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Konstanty Gacki didn't get a good kick on the ball.
