The referee ignored Ponikwa's protests and gave Bartlomiej Bambas a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of GKS Katowice booed when Ponikwa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bartlomiej Bambas didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Leon Mitus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 41 minutes, Robert Gargasz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ponikwa and the GKS Katowice players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leon Mitus hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 75th minute, GKS Katowice's Borys Cwojdak dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Kazimierz Zagrobelny was out of position in the 81 minute of play, and Borys Cwojdak capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Borys Cwojdak really showed his touch with that goal: 0-5. After 89 played minutes Ponikwa got a freekick which was hit by Olgierd Wasikowski. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leon Mitus got free with Kazimierz Zagrobelny in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 94 minutes into the match, Ponikwa's goalkeeper Kazimierz Zagrobelny had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leon Mitus. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind GKS Katowice's goalkeeper Tobiasz Pierz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. GKS Katowice played a much better game than Ponikwa and deserved their victory. The Ponikwa players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
