In the 40th minute, Mariusz Sikola ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Stasio Wysocki was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Wojciech Motowski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damazy Bycofski in the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

52 minutes into the match, Lech Poznań's goalkeeper Wojciech Motowski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zygmunt Zukowski. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zygmunt Zukowski during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Mariusz Sikola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Damazy Bycofski took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Wojciech Motowski to make any attempt to save it. Stasio Wysocki didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariusz Sikola went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Lech Poznań had won after a very even match.
