The referee ignored Zdroje SSA's protests and gave Zbyszek Hludzenski a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th minute, Zbyszek Hludzenski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 8 minutes into the match, Ajax Katowice's Lucjan Jaroszewicz broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Krzysztof Wachna in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tolek Pilarczyk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tolek Pilarczyk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Krzysztof Wachna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Ajax Katowice's Ulryk Grocholski threw himself towards the right post 23 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jaroslaw Poteralski, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 26 minutes into the match, Ajax Katowice's goal looked a bit too open when Rafal Szostak came free, but Tolek Pilarczyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th match minute, Ajax Katowice was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Konrad Giejda to maneuver through the defense. In the 39thth minute of the game Jaroslaw Poteralski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zdroje SSA's Ulryk Grocholski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zdroje SSA's Ulryk Grocholski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaroslaw Poteralski in the 46th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Wieslaw Brysz made the kick off in the second half. Zdroje SSA's Zbyszek Hludzenski got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wieslaw Brysz in the 65th minute of play forced Ajax Katowice's goalkeeper Tolek Pilarczyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Ajax Katowice's Jaroslaw Poteralski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ulryk Grocholski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Krzysztof Wachna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zdroje SSA's supporters rose to their feet, but Krzysztof Wachna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tolek Pilarczyk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
