The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Eugeniusz Golota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jan Turek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ats Asmer in the 8th minute of the match. After 8 minutes of play, Saturn Świętochłowice's Ats Asmer made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jan Turek was left in no man's land by his defense there! GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ's Jan Turek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ats Asmer in the 15th minute of play. Rafal Ogrodowicz hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Krzysztof Prus in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bogdan Spychalski saved Saturn Świętochłowice from getting behind. When Czeslaw Zawacki fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Saturn Świętochłowice's protests and gave Czeslaw Zawacki a yellow card for diving instead. After 20 played minutes Saturn Świętochłowice got a freekick which was hit by Czeslaw Zawacki. The audience was convinced that Krzysztof Prus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bogdan Spychalski was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Wawrzyniec Franzik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Bogdan Spychalski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 32 minutes into the game, Eugeniusz Golota recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jan Turek. Eugeniusz Golota showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. After some careless play in the GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ defense, Ats Asmer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan Turek. The GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan Turek should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Krzysztof Prus put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Bogdan Spychalski. Iwo Kuszczak hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. If Ats Asmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wawrzyniec Franzik in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bogdan Spychalski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Krzysztof Prus was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eugeniusz Golota in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jan Turek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 57th minute, Wawrzyniec Franzik left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wawrzyniec Franzik got free with Bogdan Spychalski in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugeniusz Golota hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. With his leg Bogdan Spychalski managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ's Krzysztof Prus fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ats Asmer in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jan Turek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bogdan Spychalski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iwo Kuszczak in the 74th minute of play. GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after Saturn Świętochłowice's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Norbert Mikulski took the corner. Norbert Mikulski made a great header on GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ's corner, it was just that Saturn Świętochłowice's Bogdan Spychalski managed to reach the ball for a save.
