The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Martin Krogsrud managed to get in a good position for a shot. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Fokkstua booed when Gaulavik BF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per Naas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jon-Inge Ådland took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amund Øvstebø, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 12 minutes into the match, Gaulavik BF's goal looked a bit too open when Thor Hustad came free, but Ingar Kjølberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Fokkstua's goal looked a bit too open when David Otterstad came free, but Jon-Inge Ådland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thor Hustad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ingar Kjølberg having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Ingar Kjølberg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. If Ingvar Molstad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gaulavik BF's Ingar Kjølberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Krogsrud in the 97th minute of play. Gaulavik BF succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Fokkstua had controlled the match.
