The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 10 minutes into the match, Jan Mayen FK's goalkeeper Alexander Knutsen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sverre Skarstein. After 12 minutes of play, Jan Mayen FK's Runar Jonsson made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. August Dahl was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Engelbråtån's zone, Steinar Dramstad stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. August Dahl came out of the goal and Steinar Dramstad tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Jan Mayen FK booed when Engelbråtån was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bertel Berstad didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Runar Jonsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. August Dahl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Runar Jonsson in the 32nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Engelbråtån defense, Steinar Dramstad kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of August Dahl. The Engelbråtån fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that August Dahl should have stopped the shot. In the 44th minute, Samuel Ljosland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sverre Skarstein in the 45thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Alexander Knutsen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After the first half Jan Mayen FK were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ragnar Trengereid during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd match minute, Engelbråtån was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ragnar Trengereid to maneuver through the defense. Dagfinn Igland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexander Knutsen having to interfere.
