The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the CSKA Dynamo defense, Laurits Kolseth kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan-Ivar Oshaug. The CSKA Dynamo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan-Ivar Oshaug should have stopped the shot. Laurits Kolseth could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Jan-Ivar Oshaug made a huge save. After 23 played minutes Oines got a freekick which was hit by Laurits Kolseth. In the 27th minute, Preben Bjørnsen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oines's Vetle Aaseth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petter Aarhus in the 33rd minute of play. When John Holen fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oines's protests and gave John Holen a yellow card for diving instead. After 35 played minutes Oines got a freekick which was hit by John Holen. Jan-Ivar Oshaug made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laurits Kolseth in the 37th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Thomas Valberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. CSKA Dynamo's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas Valberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vetle Aaseth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jan-Ivar Oshaug showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Aamot, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Thomas Valberg made a kick off. Thomas Valberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vetle Aaseth having to make a save. Jan-Ivar Oshaug made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Aamot in the 54th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Oines's zone, Preben Bjørnsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vetle Aaseth came out of the goal and Preben Bjørnsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. CSKA Dynamo's Jan-Ivar Oshaug played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Hornnes in the 60th minute of play. CSKA Dynamo's Thomas Valberg got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gjøran Aure during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. For all the effort they put into the match, the CSKA Dynamo players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Oines.
