Bjarne Gjertsen started the match with the kick off. Severin Høie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Terje Visnes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 4th minute, Severin Høie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sverre Kilen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Lars-Olav Sørhus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Rugland BF fans' excitement grew in the 14th match minute when Rugland BF's Bjarne Gjertsen looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Raagrend IF's Lars-Olav Sørhus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bjarne Gjertsen in the 17th minute of play. When Sverre Kilen came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Rugland BF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sverre Kilen couldn't finish the play. If Severin Høie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robert Enger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terje Visnes having to interfere. A collision led to Raagrend IF getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. John-Edvin Vestnes hit a great ball. Lars-Olav Sørhus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sverre Kilen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 33 minutes Raagrend IF's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gjøran Høglund who took care of the corner kick. Bjørn Josefsen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Terje Visnes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Lars-Olav Sørhus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bjarne Gjertsen in the 43rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Bjarne Gjertsen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rugland BF's supporters rose to their feet, but Bjarne Gjertsen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lars-Olav Sørhus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sverre Kilen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Raagrend IF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rugland BF were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robert Enger to strike the kick off in the second half. Raagrend IF's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Andreas Sagbakken in the 53rd minute. Raagrend IF's Andreas Sagbakken was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Terje Visnes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Terje Visnes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Enger, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After some careless play in the Rugland BF defense, Robert Enger kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Terje Visnes. The Rugland BF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Terje Visnes should have stopped the shot. 62 minutes into the match, Raagrend IF's goalkeeper Lars-Olav Sørhus had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sverre Kilen. Sverre Kilen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sverre Kilen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Lars-Olav Sørhus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Terje Visnes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robert Enger's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Raagrend IF's zone, Bjarne Gjertsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lars-Olav Sørhus came out of the goal and Bjarne Gjertsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sverre Kilen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lars-Olav Sørhus having to interfere. Raagrend IF's John-Edvin Vestnes got his second yellow card of the match in the 77th minute. The referee ordered John-Edvin Vestnes off the ground. A collision led to Raagrend IF getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. John-Edvin Vestnes hit a great ball. If Bjørn Josefsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. With a little luck, Raagrend IF's Lars-Olav Sørhus got control of the ball when Sverre Kilen tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rugland BF's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
