The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute, Ole-Jostein Serigstad got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fridtjof Hågensen in the 14th minute of play forced Selbak TIF's goalkeeper Vetle Nerdal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicholas Øygarden's late challenge caught a Selbak TIF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicholas Øygarden helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Gapende Gafler getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Nicholas Øygarden hit a great ball. In the 18thth minute of the game Ole-Jostein Serigstad who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gapende Gafler's Steffen Eid was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Jan-Frode Vabø had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Gapende Gafler's Steffen Eid got control of the ball when Ole-Jostein Serigstad tried to sneak it across the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Gapende Gafler's goalkeeper Steffen Eid had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jan-Frode Vabø. Fridtjof Hågensen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vetle Nerdal having to interfere. If Nicholas Øygarden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ole-Jostein Serigstad struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Steffen Eid didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Selbak TIF. Ole-Jostein Serigstad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute of the match Sigurd Hølland shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vetle Nerdal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nicholas Øygarden stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Selbak TIF's Vetle Nerdal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicholas Øygarden in the 61st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicholas Øygarden in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vetle Nerdal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 63rd match minute, Selbak TIF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johan Risnes to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Fridtjof Hågensen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vetle Nerdal. That made the score 0-1 in the 64 minute of play. Selbak TIF's Ole-Jostein Serigstad got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 72 played minutes Selbak TIF got a freekick which was hit by Roar Misje. A collision led to Gapende Gafler getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Kyrre Oppegaard hit a great ball. Steffen Eid stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ole-Jostein Serigstad's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Johan Risnes kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Fridtjof Hågensen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out.
