Kim Gudmundsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Balder Bjørnstad having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, GIF Sundsvall's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Løvdal came free, but Sverre Lilleng reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Tarjei Staff came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Gjeving FF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tarjei Staff couldn't finish the play. After having played for 16 minutes, Tarjei Staff managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gjeving FF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tarjei Staff was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Martin Klepp's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Balder Bjørnstad read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. In the 22nd minute of the match Rune Hartvigsen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Balder Bjørnstad skillfully saved the ball. If Kim Gudmundsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sverre Lilleng stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Martin Løvdal's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. GIF Sundsvall's Sverre Lilleng proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save GIF Sundsvall from getting a goal against them. In the 35th minute, Alfred Singh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gjeving FF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GIF Sundsvall the free kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Martin Klepp to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martin Klepp in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Balder Bjørnstad saved Gjeving FF from getting behind. Balder Bjørnstad showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Klepp in the 62nd minute of the match. If Martin Løvdal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kent-Are Knutsen kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 73rd minute, Martin Klepp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kim Gudmundsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Balder Bjørnstad tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
