The Zalgiris fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jon-Arne Sørdal should have stopped the shot. If Olaf Kristiansen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Zalgiris's zone, Christian Pedersen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jon-Arne Sørdal came out of the goal and Christian Pedersen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gissenås BF's Olaf Kristiansen got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Olaf Kristiansen came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Gissenås BF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olaf Kristiansen couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute Samuel Blystad shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Roe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfred Kirkevold fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jon-Arne Sørdal having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Olaf Kristiansen to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Christian Pedersen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gissenås BF's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Pedersen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jon-Arne Sørdal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 92 minutes into the match, Zalgiris's Egil Tvete sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erik Roe narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Zalgiris's zone, Christian Pedersen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jon-Arne Sørdal came out of the goal and Christian Pedersen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match was over Gissenås BF could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Zalgiris throughout the match.
