The referee ignored Raagrend IF's protests and gave Jørn Laursen a yellow card for diving instead. After 12 played minutes Raagrend IF got a freekick which was hit by Jørn Laursen. In the 14th minute Thomas Iversen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Ivar Helliesen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raagrend IF's Jan-Ivar Helliesen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Raagrend IF from getting a goal against them. Wilhelm Bergh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Ivar Helliesen having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
