After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Vidar Storeide managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rosenborg United's supporters rose to their feet, but Vidar Storeide was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Morten Markussen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Petter Grønstad came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Karlstad fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Petter Grønstad couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute, Rosenborg United's Frode Helberg dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. In the 70th minute Arve Grønvold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Morten Markussen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arve Grønvold's late challenge caught a Karlstad's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karlstad's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
