The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Høyvågen's Per-Kristian Sundgot got a free kick in the 19th minute. Oddbjørn Sjølie kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. If Stian Haraldstad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Stian Haraldstad came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Høyvågen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stian Haraldstad couldn't finish the play. In the 33rd minute, Stian Haraldstad reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zbyszko Oborski. The goal made the score 1-0. After 43 minutes, Eilif Fjeldberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the TsF Rognan and the Høyvågen players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eilif Fjeldberg hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, Erland Rakvåg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stian Haraldstad made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Trym Idland made a precise shot to the right of Zbyszko Oborski. TsF Rognan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Høyvågen's Arild Norderhaug played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josef Kielland in the 58th minute of play. In the 60th minute, TsF Rognan's Josef Kielland ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arild Norderhaug. Arild Norderhaug yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. Bjørn Thommesen's late challenge caught a TsF Rognan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bjørn Thommesen helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of TsF Rognan booed when Høyvågen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bjørn Thommesen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Konrad Klette made in the 67th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Jens Grindheim immediately put the ball in play. Josef Kielland struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Arild Norderhaug didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TsF Rognan. The supporters of Høyvågen booed when TsF Rognan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oddbjørn Sjølie didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stian Haraldstad in the 73rd minute of play forced TsF Rognan's goalkeeper Zbyszko Oborski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frederick Velkeneers struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Arild Norderhaug didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TsF Rognan. Josef Kielland might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arild Norderhaug. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Josef Kielland ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, TsF Rognan's Arild Norderhaug threw himself towards the right post 88 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Josef Kielland, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, Høyvågen's Per-Kristian Sundgot got a free kick in the 95th minute. TsF Rognan's Frederick Velkeneers couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 96th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Høyvågen. Many of TsF Rognan's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. TsF Rognan may have spent more time on the ball, but Høyvågen were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
