When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Halvard Ursin took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Finn-Christian Lilleås to make any attempt to save it. Tim Wolden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christoffer Høiberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Brage Røhne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Finn-Christian Lilleås having to interfere. Tim Wolden came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Smolan's Christoffer Høiberg. But to his dismay, Christoffer Høiberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Tim Wolden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vebjørn Rognan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute John-Einar Vorland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tim Wolden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Smolan's Finn-Christian Lilleås got control of the ball when Halvard Ursin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tim Wolden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vebjørn Rognan in the 43rd minute of play. In the 45th minute Tim Schou shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tim Wolden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Brage Røhne made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Selvaag getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Erik Winger hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vebjørn Rognan in the 54th minute of play forced Selvaag's goalkeeper Tim Wolden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th minute, Smolan's Tim Schou ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tim Wolden. Tim Wolden yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. Tim Wolden stood somewhat misplaced when Christoffer Høiberg came free in front of goal and shot 1-6 to the left of him in the 63 minute. 67 minutes into the match, Smolan's goal looked a bit too open when Brage Røhne came free, but Finn-Christian Lilleås reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Selvaag's Tim Wolden proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Selvaag from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Halvard Ursin in the 72nd minute of play forced Smolan's goalkeeper Finn-Christian Lilleås to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 87 minutes, Laurits Bjerke mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Smolan and the Selvaag players grew even worse after the yellow card. Smolan's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
