In the 9th minute, Eilif Sagbakken hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee felt a red card was in order, 15 minutes into the game, when Torbjørn Oma put in a rough tackle. If Xabi Alonso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xabi Alonso scored 1-0 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Erik Eiken, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wilhelm Fimreite struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Erik Eiken didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fenstad FK. When Oddbjørn Nyland fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fenstad FK's protests and gave Oddbjørn Nyland a yellow card for diving instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eilert Solsvik was the one to do the kick off. Benjamin Jahren's late challenge caught a Storhamar Fotball's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benjamin Jahren helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Storhamar Fotball booed when Fenstad FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Jahren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fredrik Thygesen had great luck who in the 56thth minute grab hold of the ball when Eilif Sagbakken from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Fredrik Thygesen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eilif Sagbakken, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eilert Solsvik in the 62nd minute of play forced Fenstad FK's goalkeeper Fredrik Thygesen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 63 played minutes Fenstad FK got a freekick which was hit by Julius Birkenes. When Wilhelm Fimreite came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Fenstad FK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilhelm Fimreite couldn't finish the play. Wilhelm Fimreite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Erik Eiken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erik Eiken made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilhelm Fimreite in the 97th minute of play. Fenstad FK's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
