Spectators: 8405 (Terracing: 6304, Seating: 1933, VIP seats: 168) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Trym Thorsrud started the match with the kick off. After 4 played minutes Verdal FK got a freekick which was hit by Christer Dalseth. In the 8thth minute of the game Trym Thorsrud who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ymse FK's Kristian Opstad was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Kristian Opstad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trym Thorsrud in the 10th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trym Thorsrud in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kristian Opstad saved Ymse FK from getting behind. Gjermund Berre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 13th minute, Stian Ulland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gjermund Berre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. In the 15th match minute, Ymse FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stian Ulland to maneuver through the defense. 16 minutes into the match, Trym Thorsrud had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kristian Opstad. Ymse FK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Trym Thorsrud was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 24 minutes into the game, Trym Thorsrud cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Kristian Opstad was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Trym Thorsrud fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristian Opstad having to interfere. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Trym Thorsrud sped through Ymse FK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kristian Opstad. Kristian Opstad showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trym Thorsrud, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute, Odd-Eirik Muri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trym Thorsrud took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kristian Opstad. Kristian Opstad dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Trym Thorsrud in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kristian Opstad prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 47th minute of the match Verdal FK got a corner. Ymse FK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Christer Dalseth ran over to the corner to take the kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Svend Handeland to strike the kick off in the second half. Trym Thorsrud's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 51stth minute, Kristian Opstad skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After having played for 53 minutes, Morten Borgersen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Verdal FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Morten Borgersen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trym Thorsrud in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kristian Opstad saved Ymse FK from getting behind. In the 56th minute, Trym Thorsrud made a precise shot to the right of Kristian Opstad. Ymse FK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Gjermund Berre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Kristian Opstad tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trym Thorsrud in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kristian Opstad saved Ymse FK from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Gjermund Berre managed to get in a good position for a shot. Verdal FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Gjermund Berre was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kristian Opstad breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 64 in the game by Trym Thorsrud from a close distance when the talented Kristian Opstad managed to make a qualified save. Ymse FK's players were relieved. After 65 played minutes Ymse FK got a freekick which was hit by Chris Vedøy. The audience was convinced that Trym Thorsrud's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kristian Opstad was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. The Verdal FK fans' excitement grew in the 69th match minute when Verdal FK's Trym Thorsrud looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Trym Thorsrud took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kristian Opstad. Kristian Opstad dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. After 77 minutes Ymse FK's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Christer Dalseth who took care of the corner kick. The audience was convinced that Trym Thorsrud's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kristian Opstad was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Verdal FK's Morten Borgersen got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 83rd minute, Trym Thorsrud got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Trym Thorsrud received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Kristian Opstad tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trym Thorsrud scored 0-8 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kristian Opstad, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ymse FK's Kristian Opstad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trym Thorsrud in the 93rd minute of play. After 95 played minutes Ymse FK got a freekick which was hit by Severin Leonhardsen. Verdal FK's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
