After 4 minutes of play, Fredrikstad FK's William Bekkevold made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Runar Økland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raymond Stordal having to interfere. 26 minutes into the game, Geir Smeland was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bergdal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fredrikstad FK the free kick. After a rather tough play, Bergdal's Geir Smeland got a free kick in the 26th minute. The supporters of Fredrikstad FK booed when Bergdal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Storm Solvang didn't get a good kick on the ball. Asgeir Molvik made in the 31st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Fredrikstad FK's Tor-Magnus Johanson. William Bekkevold sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If William Bekkevold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell William Bekkevold to make the kick off. Fredrikstad FK's Raymond Stordal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Runar Økland in the 53rd minute of play. Runar Økland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Steinar Stein during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The Bergdal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. 75 minutes into the game, Runar Økland cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Raymond Stordal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 83rd minute Runar Økland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raymond Stordal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes in the game Jonas Hovind did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to André Askim. After 87 minutes, Stig-Inge Midtun mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fredrikstad FK and the Bergdal players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 87th minute, Stig-Inge Midtun hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute William Bekkevold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 95 played minutes Fredrikstad FK got a freekick which was hit by Elias Saastad. When the referee blew the final whistle, Bergdal could leave the field as winners, despite Fredrikstad FK having more of the ball for most of the match.
