The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rdth minute of the game Arild Thomassen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Viking FK's Stein-Roger Silden was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Stein-Roger Silden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dag Liseth in the 6th minute of the match. Jack Mykland's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stein-Roger Silden read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Ask Tønsberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Trond Bjørheim made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Dum Dum Boys Athletics's Henrik Flesland got a free kick in the 11th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Henrik Systad managed to get in a good position for a shot. Viking FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Henrik Systad was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trond Bjørheim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stein-Roger Silden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niks Mus in the 15th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Viking FK defense, Dag Liseth kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stein-Roger Silden. The Viking FK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stein-Roger Silden should have stopped the shot. Niks Mus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Niks Mus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Viking FK's goal looked a bit too open when Dag Liseth came free, but Stein-Roger Silden reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stein-Roger Silden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dag Liseth, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Stein-Roger Silden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niks Mus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Viking FK's goal looked a bit too open when Arild Thomassen came free, but Stein-Roger Silden reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Viking FK's Arne Sannerud got a free kick in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niks Mus in the 38th minute of play forced Viking FK's goalkeeper Stein-Roger Silden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Viking FK getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Eilif Westlie hit a great ball. When Martin Remøy fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Viking FK's protests and gave Martin Remøy a yellow card for diving instead. Adam Svenningsen, 74 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Viking FK's Stein-Roger Silden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niks Mus in the 76th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niks Mus in the 78th minute of play forced Viking FK's goalkeeper Stein-Roger Silden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Niks Mus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stein-Roger Silden was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Viking FK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dum Dum Boys Athletics the free kick. After a rather tough play, Viking FK's Roger Eikås got a free kick in the 94th minute. Dum Dum Boys Athletics's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
