Spectators: 6858 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1710, VIP seats: 148) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Billy Cornelisse started the match with the kick off. After 3 played minutes Kapolder RKSV got a freekick which was hit by Pepijn Soer. In the 6th minute, Nigel Teunissen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nigel Teunissen in the 20th minute of play forced Kapolder RKSV's goalkeeper Falco Tamminga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 21 played minutes Kapolder RKSV got a freekick which was hit by Chiel Mueller. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Diderik Dalmeijer during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Diderik Dalmeijer kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. If Maurice Plagge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 38 played minutes Kapolder RKSV got a freekick which was hit by Pepijn Soer. After a defensive mix-up in Kapolder RKSV's zone, Aad de Ridder stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Falco Tamminga came out of the goal and Aad de Ridder tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aad de Ridder in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Falco Tamminga saved Kapolder RKSV from getting behind. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

51 minutes into the match, SC Telstar United's goal looked a bit too open when Billy Cornelisse came free, but Henk-Jan Traa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Stephan Heijen fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kapolder RKSV's protests and gave Stephan Heijen a yellow card for diving instead. In the 54th minute, Stephan Heijen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kapolder RKSV's Falco Tamminga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nigel Teunissen in the 55th minute of play. In the 56th match minute, Kapolder RKSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maurice Plagge to maneuver through the defense. Falco Tamminga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nigel Teunissen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 59 minutes into the game, Stephan Heijen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Henk-Jan Traa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aad de Ridder struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Falco Tamminga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Telstar United. Nigel Teunissen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Kapolder RKSV booed when SC Telstar United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luuk van Boxel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute Billy Cornelisse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henk-Jan Traa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the game, Nigel Teunissen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Falco Tamminga. Nigel Teunissen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. A collision led to SC Telstar United getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Kristof de Zwaan hit a great ball.
