Harry Lambers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Engbers having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Willemsoord was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Taco Ter to maneuver through the defense. After 20 minutes of play, Kapel's Mark Numan made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erik Engbers was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Willemsoord's goalkeeper Erik Engbers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Willemsoord getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Taco Ter hit a great ball. A hard shot 30 in the game by Mark Numan from a close distance when the talented Erik Engbers managed to make a qualified save. Willemsoord's players were relieved. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mark Numan got free with Erik Engbers in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Henk Neeskens might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jan Rein Kregel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Henk Neeskens ran back to his position shaking his head. Mark Numan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Erik Engbers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dimitrie Lubbers hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. 43 minutes into the match, Willemsoord's goalkeeper Erik Engbers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mark Numan. The wind increased when Harry Lambers made the kick off in the second half. If Roland Planting had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Willemsoord's Erik Engbers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mark Numan in the 64th minute of play. Mark Numan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 66th match minute, Willemsoord was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfred Halen to maneuver through the defense. Harry Lambers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Engbers having to interfere. Harry Lambers struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Erik Engbers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kapel. Harry Lambers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Erik Engbers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Willemsoord's zone, Harry Lambers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erik Engbers came out of the goal and Harry Lambers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Harry Lambers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 81st minute, Roland Planting left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Willemsoord fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Mark Numan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erik Engbers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Kapel players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
