The supporters of Lathum FC booed when Wittewerf was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnout Hummel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26thth minute of the game Jan Rooy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wittewerf's Gert Hofman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gert Hofman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jan Rooy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gert Hofman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brain Achterberg's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. In the 88th minute Jan Rooy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gert Hofman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Jan Rooy managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lathum FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jan Rooy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gert Hofman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
