Ruben Hegeman made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Rudi Knol sent off a good shot on target. After 21 played minutes Zijdewind Excelsior got a freekick which was hit by Michael Sanders. 22 minutes into the match, Duinen SV's Jan Ottenhof sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gertjan Dekkers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nigel Geerts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Hegeman having to interfere. 25 minutes into the game, Rudi Knol was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zijdewind Excelsior's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Duinen SV the free kick. In the 25th minute, Rudi Knol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Duinen SV booed when Zijdewind Excelsior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Sanders didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kevin Kuypers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gertjan Dekkers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Zijdewind Excelsior's Gertjan Dekkers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Kuypers in the 39th minute of play. Kevin Kuypers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Gertjan Dekkers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Taco Schuurman made a kick off. A collision led to Zijdewind Excelsior getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Michael Sanders hit a great ball. 66 minutes into the match, Zijdewind Excelsior's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Kuypers came free, but Gertjan Dekkers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Zijdewind Excelsior defense, Kevin Kuypers kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gertjan Dekkers. The Zijdewind Excelsior fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gertjan Dekkers should have stopped the shot. Kevin Kuypers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute, Sjoerd Dam left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Duinen SV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. When the final whistle sounded Duinen SV left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Zijdewind Excelsior.
