A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 9 minutes into the match, Jean-Paul Heikens had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joop Eiting. Zoelmond RKSV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jean-Paul Heikens was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With a little luck, Zoelmond RKSV's Joop Eiting got control of the ball when Jean-Paul Heikens tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 25 minutes of play, Eagles's Wim Hoogland made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joop Eiting was left in no man's land by his defense there! Japke Need who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Joop Eiting when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Elbert Zeegelaar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frederik Weinands read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Jean-Paul Heikens in the 36thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Joop Eiting, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 37th match minute, Zoelmond RKSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franck Heide to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elbert Zeegelaar to strike the kick off in the second half. When Marcus Meyer fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zoelmond RKSV's protests and gave Marcus Meyer a yellow card for diving instead. After 73 played minutes Zoelmond RKSV got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Meyer. Joop Eiting showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tim van der Bij, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Eagles walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
