With an extended leg and a bit of luck Remco Stuijt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klaas Scheerhoorn in the 17th minute of play forced FC Volendam's goalkeeper Remco Stuijt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute, Hubert Ricksen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th minute, Hans-Cees Groten made a precise shot to the right of Remco Stuijt. A throw-in in the 94th minute of the game was made by Jean-Paul Ijksma with Jens Collen as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Ernest Robbermond stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nigel Maurits's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. Oscar Brugmans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Robbermond having to interfere.
